Annual Pan African Postal Union Conference held in Ethiopia

September 2011 - Over the summer, Escher Group attended the 31st PAPU conference, which was held in Addis Ababa. Thirty countries were present to discuss strategic postal issues, both global and at an African-continent level. Not only was Escher Group an exhibitor at the event, it was invited to demonstrate RiposteEssential and RiposteTrEx directly to delegates. We were greatly encouraged by the level of interest shown in RiposteEssential, our point-of-service counter automation solution, but even more so in RipsoteTrEx; this indicated a high level of awareness and sophistication on the part of delegates regarding digital mail.
 

Cultural evenings were hosted by both the Ethiopian Ministry for Transport & Communications and the Embassy of Switzerland, where delegates were treated to traditional Ethiopian dance and song. The event drew to a close when the new Chairman of PAPU, Gebreyohannes Ghiday, CEO of Ethiopia Post, addressed the delegates at the conference venue, the United Nations Convention Centre.
