Escher travels to Georgetown for Caribbean Postal Union conference

Escher Group has travelled to Guyana as an exhibitor and sponsor of the 13th Caribbean Postal Union (CPU) conference which is being hosted by the Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC) in the capital, Georgetown. The current Secretary General of CPU is Mr Michael Gentles, Postmaster General of Jamaica and Chief Executive Officer of the Postal Corporation of Jamaica.

The three-day event, which brings together 50 delegates from the Union, was opened this morning by GPOC Chairman, Bishop Juan Edghill.

The Chairman emphasised the need to ensure stability and facilitate the structural adjustment for meeting the prevailing challenges faced in the postal sector in the Caribbean. 'We have to start thinking of how we can establish and strengthen already established partnerships; to ensure that the postal sector remains viable and in many instances profitable,' he said.
